Preschool Age Program

The Friendly Port Childcare Centre Preschool Age Program provides child care and early learning opportunities for a maximum of 16 children aged 30 months to five years.  We are open Monday through Friday, 7a.m. to 6p.m.  We maintain a ratio of one Educator for every 8 children in attendance. 

Our program will provide your child with a variety of play-based activities including science, sensory and art invitations designed to develop self-help skills, promote healthy social-emotional development and foster a love of discovery and learning.  Free-choice play will give children opportunities to learn and practice valuable communication tools and social skills such as turn taking, sharing, and cooperation and allows children time to develop positive relationships with peers and teachers.

Early literacy and language skills will be developed through free play access to various reading materials, felt board story props and puppets. As well, group discussions and circle time activities such as songs, finger plays, stories, and learning games will help your child learn a variety of concepts and provide a strong foundation for later academic learning.

Your child will have daily opportunities to develop and strengthen physical skills using art and sensory materials, table top/manipulative toys and building toys and through music and movement, large group active games, and outdoor play experiences.  In addition to play in our designated playground areas, our program includes frequent walks along the trail.

Infant Toddler Program

The Friendly Port Childcare Centre Infant and Toddler program provides child care and early learning opportunities for a maximum of 8 children aged 6 months to three years.  We are open Monday through Friday, 7:30a.m. to 6:00p.m.  We maintain a ratio of one Educator for every 4 children in attendance. 

In our Infant Toddler Program care is at the forefront of everything we do.  Our focus is on building trusting relationships.  Our environment is homelike and filled with play-based activities including science, sensory and art invitations and materials chosen to engage curious young minds and bodies.
